This is just a little update on Isaac’s and fresh tomatoes.
On Monday morning, 6/9, Isaac’s temporarily stopped serving tomatoes, due to a nationwide FDA advisory. In situations like this, we are proactive and prefer to err on the side of caution to protect the health of our customers.
A few hours after we stopped serving tomatoes, we learned enough information to assure ourselves that the tomatoes we use are not implicated in the recall.
1. Our Florida packer has notified us in writing that they have not been contacted by the FDA in relation to any contamination.
2. Our packer has notified us in writing that they have not supplied directly or indirectly any of the supermarkets identified as linked to the outbreak.
3. The tomatoes that caused the outbreak were harvested between April 28th and May 3rd. Our grower did not harvest during that period.
We are watching the situation closely, and will continue to ensure that the food we serve at Isaac’s is safe, as well as tasty and wholesome!
