LANCASTER, PA – Throughout the month of April, Isaac’s will hold its “Third Annual Bag Hunger” campaign benefiting local hunger relief programs in the areas where each of the 20 Isaac’s restaurants are located. “Being in the 'eating' business, we take it personally that nearly 37 million Americans live in food insecure households,” says Alan Jacobs, President. “That's a staggering number equal to about 12% of the entire population. ‘Bag Hunger’ is our way of providing an opportunity for employees and communities to lend a hand by supporting their neighborhood food pantry or soup kitchen. We are proud to support this effort, and feel it's our appropriate duty as restaurateurs.”
Hunger relief programs and homeless shelters receiving food donated by Isaac’s employees and customers include York Rescue Mission, Clare House in Lancaster, Chester County Cares, Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg, and Opportunity House in Reading.
The donation process is simple. From April 1 – 30, bring your donation to Isaac’s and anyone presenting food items will receive a coupon that can be redeemed for a free cup of soup. Most needed food items include canned meats, soups, vegetables (especially beans) and fruits (particularly applesauce), rice, pasta, instant mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese, coffee, canned juices and powdered milk, cereal and oatmeal, baking mixes and sugar, flour and cooking oil.
Isaac’s has restaurants across Harrisburg, Lancaster and York as well as in Berks and Chester counties, each known for their zany flamingos and distinctive bird-named deli sandwiches.
